The Oaks Counseling Center provides individual and group counseling services, programs, and workshops for adults and children (ages 5-12). Our clients may be walking through loss, retirement, end-of-life, chronic illness/pain, living with food allergies, parenting a child with special needs or life-threatening food allergies. Our clients include those grieving due to mass shootings, homicide, suicide, overdose death, accidental death, disease, sudden death or missing persons. Our clients may be a first responder, military, or professional caregiver who is processing compassion fatigue and job-related stress.

The Oaks Counseling Center specializes in loss, grief and caregiver fatigue. We hope to provide you with support, coping skills, education and guidance through your journey. We strive to provide a safe place to let go, to be heard, and to be with others who get it. We have a unique program for kids with food allergies and for kids who are grieving.

The Mighty Oaks Allergy Program

Mighty Oaks: Group for Food Allergic Children, Ages 8-11

Tuesdays, 4pm-5:30pm

August 29-October 3, 2023-Session A

October 10-November 15-Session B

A psychoeducational group for children who live with life-threatening food allergies. Our group will be active using games, art activities, skill building and role play. A great safe place for kids to be with other kids who get it!

 

Acorn Grief Program

Acorn Grief Groups: For Children, Ages 8-11.

Wednesdays, 5pm-6:30pm

Level 1: August 30-October 4, 2023

This entry-level grief support group is for children who are grieving the death of a loved one. The death must have occurred within the past year.

 

Level 2: October 1-November 15, 2023

This is for children who are beyond the 1rst year and may be facing different challenges in their grief process.

 

Free phone consultation required before registration. For children’s group, phone/video consultation with parent & child required before registration.

Roots Program

Our Roots Program is for those who have worked and/or are currently working in service to others. Our Roots are community members who are sacrificing their lives for the freedom, health, safety and well-being of others. If it were not for these mighty Roots, our community would not stand.

Roots include: first responder, dispatcher, EMT, crisis response team, crisis line worker, National Guard, active/retired military, clergy, professional health caregiver-CNA, doctor, nurse, hospice worker, funeral home staff, coroner office staff. Future Process Groups for the Roots are coming, please contact Karen if you would be interested in a telehealth support group with other Roots or an in-person support group. We would process the pressure, stress and weariness that comes with being a Root. Group would be a safe, confidential place to talk with others about your work life, find support and build self-care plans.
