We all experience loss. Engaging in grief therapy is life changing. Grief is very specific and unique to work with.
Throughout life we will grieve our loved one’s death, beloved pet’s death, illness, divorce, losing a job, career, break ups, friendships, children moving on, not having children, dreams, our inabilities, aging, facing our own death and many more. During grief therapy we will process unhelpful and helpful emotions, thoughts, behaviors, our purpose, meaning and answers to many questions including: Who am I now? Why am I here? What should I do next? Did I live well today?
My name is Kathryn Krzykala. I am a psychotherapist specializing in working with Grief, Loss, Trauma, Adjustment/Transitions, Anxiety Disorders, ASD, ADHD and Depression. I have been Hospice trained and still hold RHPC close to my heart. I am EMDR Certified as well as Certified Grief Counselor Specialist (CGCS) incorporating Mindful Self-Compassion in my practice.
I facilitate a Grief Support Group for Spousal/Partner Loss at Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital (free of charge) every first Wednesday of the month at 4:30 pm, please call to register: 847 535 6489.
Founded Klub Solo Rodzica (Single Parent Club) within the Polish Community in 2004. A few years ago, we have merged with a Women’s shelter in Chicago. I facilitate psychoeducation groups that offer support around trauma, grief, loss, transitions, self-esteem issues, as well as provide parenting classes to women and their children within this shelter. I have been very active in the Polish community. Sometimes, you may hear me as a featured guest on the Polish radio or you may find my articles in the Polish newspaper called Monitor.
I utilized Grief Theories, Mindful Self Compassion work, EMDR work for trauma, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Having an Illinois and Wisconsin license allows me to work with people from both states. I take three types of insurance plans and provide a sliding scale.
Thank you for seeking help during this difficult time. I will be honored to walk beside you on your grief journey.
